The shield locks in masonry as bolt is tightened, and remains securely anchored even though bolt is removed frequently. The short standard sizes provide sufficient holding power in firm masonry, but the long standard size is recommended for softer materials. 100% rust-proof throughout For use with machine bolts To determine length of bolt: thicknessoffixture,plus length of expansion shield equals length of bolt. A deep setting helps to increase holding power of masonry. If desired, place a pipe sleeve between Double Shield and fixture to be attached. Double Shield should be flush, or slightly below surface of masonry. Place fixture, insert machine bolt, and tighten. Drill hole of recommended diameter (slightly deeper than length of DoubleShield). Insert Double Shield into hole (nut end first). Bolt not included. DOUBLE EXPANSION SHIELDS Heavy-duty expansion shield fitted with locking lug on both nut and collar. Load is distributed full-length of side casting, thus increasing holding power of all materials. Recommended for shear loads, or where bolt is subject to side pressure or vibration.
